Default What year XJs can I get doors from?

I have a 1994 2 door XJ and pretty much every handle doesnt work right. Won't lock. Have to slam it with all your might and manually pry the latch back on each closure. Various retaining bolts stripped. Rather than mess with all the rods and reaching up in it and grinding bolts I want to just swap out the whole door (Provided I find one with a key at the junk yard) What year range 2-door XJs would be compatiable? Thanks in advance.

You're getting a whole new door cause the handle doesn't work?

Adjust the strike pin on the body, I bet that solves your problem, it did with me.

So all two of them?

There are two on the inside also. That makes four for a two door...

Listen, I thought my handles were screwed up too, I just shot some spray lube on the latch and adjusted the strike pin and all was good, took a few days for the lube to work in and get better though.

Not WD40, I used thick stuff, chain lube for a motorcycle. And make sure that clear piece of plastic on the bottom of the latch is straightened out.

Or possibly your linkage rods are bent/spent.

Just so you know, the lock cylinder in the door is held in by a spring clip. If you replace the doors it's fairly easy to pull that spring clip and swap the lock cylinders so you can use your old key. It does require reconnecting the actuator rods, though.

Survey says.... X. Try reading my post again. Nothing works on the door. Lock in or out..Handles/buttons in or out..Latch assembly is shot and you have to pry the lever up on each closure and then slam it hard..Star bolts holding the latch assembly on are all stripped and need to be grinded off. Would be far easier to just undo the 6 hinge bolts and throw the old door in the scrap metal bin and be done in 5 minutes than fix all that stuff

Why not pay to have it fixed if you don't wanna mess with it?And finding any car in the junkyard with keys to it is rare as hell.

Then I'd have to interact with people and I'm horribly withdrawn. I could just take the Sawz-All to it and expose all the connection points

As was said, 84-96 two door will be a perfect fit. As for finding the keys, you could always take one of the doors to a locksmith and have them make a key. Usually cost about $30-40 IIRC.

In regards to the key...

You can swap out the cylinder as someone else mentioned. You can alway have a new key made by impressioning (key made from a blank with no key to copy). I'd go with the cylinder swap as it would keep you doors and ignition on the same key.

Lock components should be lubed with graphite, never used wd40 on a lock it's a temporary fix with long term consequences.

To answer your question, Programbo, 84 to 96 doors will fit. Just swap the lock cylinder from old door to new door if it still works well.
