What is this thing?!
Went to the junk yard today and found this little yellow box in an older XJ (probably an 85 or 86) it has the AMC logo on it, and it has markings on it like "low speed sw. adj." , "centering adj." , "sensitivity adj", and "terminal release". I grabbed it thinking it was some sort of factory anti-theft, and I didn't have to pay anything from it because the guy at the cashier was feeling genrous today! Let me know what it is because I don't have a clue.

Sweet! Looks like I'll be throwing together a cruise control system soon!
What will I need to make it happen besides the module?

Im sure it would work, but more of a PITA than its worth to adapt a renix cc box to your 96.
Why not just go to the junkyard and get the switches and actuator for yours?
96 does not have a seperate computer for it. all you need is the switches that go on the bottom of the steering wheel, and the actuator.

The actuator is vacuum operated right? and then it will just wire up to the steering wheel? I'm confused.

I just guesstimated the year of the XJ. I couldn't really find out the model year because the gloveboxes are empty in every car at the junk yard and I really didn't want to pop the hood to check because there was about 10 inches of snow on it haha
