The new models are rated at MAX, like you said. What I find funny is when you talk to the reps and look at their 'testing' procedure.
Those crappy Hexagonal Sony amplifiers are tested at 14 volts/600 amps for 30 seconds. If they don't blow up within 30 seconds they rate the max at the highest it powered.
In other words, they rate the max with WAY more input power than anyone is ever going to run.
Unless it's a Class D amplifier I would take an 800 watt amp and assume it's going to make 200 watts.

Cheap *** Jensen Hd5570 head unit, coax 5 inch Kickers installed by PO in front, and Kicker 3-way 6x9's "creatively engineered" into the sound bar (worst. idea. ever.)

thats why I always go over the power I need, if I'm lookin at needing 800 watts i'll get a 1500 watt amp and just turn it down.. actually helps with clarity in some aspects. I never buy anything but but top brands when it comes to my amps and really anything audio wise
The box for my 15's actually sits level with the top of my rear seats so i got the angled boxed for the 6x9's and i plan to mount them on the sub box where headrests would be located. Run the wires straight down through the sub box.

For the love of God, if you have a speaker bar DONT cut into it and install them there. Even if you manage to install without it looking like crap they will sound like crap. Walmart sells 6x9 boxes...
