I like the style of the older toyotas i really do. I lost all respect for yota after this FJ. Its the fact that they think it is so much more capable than XJs that make me despise it so much
furthermore, i have never seen an FJ owner driving without talking on the phone!

Toyota moving forward even if you don't want to
Even if the throttle sticks they still can't win a race

Some people like to knock things for no valid reason. And some people jump on the bandwagon because they think it's cool. Understand this: I love my XJ to death and might never own a Toyota, but I'm willing to give credit where it's due. And I'd drive an FJ 40.
When the FJ40s first were released, the Toyota trail team brought them to Paragon Adventure park in PA to introduce them to the wheeling community and see how they held up against the Jeeps and other 4x4s. They were not very modded, mostly they had larger than stock AT tires and few other goodies. I was there on a wheeling trip that weekend and I must say that the FJs did very well. Some features that they come stock with Jeep didn't even consider for XJs.
I think some came selectably locked or it was an option - never an option offered on any XJ. Look at their wheel wells - already wide open, and a pretty decent approach angle. The tire sizes they were running stock is something we can only dream of on a stock XJ. Right off the line they have more ground clearance that XJ owners can only get from spending hundreds $$. They had washable rubber interiors and built in panel speakers in the trunk. Stock. It's been several years and there's a lot I have forgotten, but I wasn't turning my nose up when the weekend was over.
