Default What should I ask for it? Selling 96 2 door

So after owning this Cherokee for 7 years I decided to sell it. But I have no idea what to ask for it.
Any suggestions are welcome. I have really been away from the resale market, so I have not idea.
And I can't fine much for sale in the central california/bay area.

96 2 Door Sport 4.0L. Rebuilt trans
Lifted. 31" Kevlar Wranglers
Nice interior. Repainted exterior.
Does have 322K on engine. But still runs great!
AW4 transmission rebuilt recently at professional shop.
All the usual engine accessories replaced. New Radiator and AC condenser and compressor.
Chrome hooks front and back. Roof Rack.

Dunno what to ask. Help me.

The question should be, "How much money do I need to get out of it from the money I put into it?"

From looking at the few pictures you posted, I would probably start at $6000. You know people are going to try to talk you down, so that may leave you a little room to come down. If you post some more pictures we could give you a better idea. (Interior, underhood, undercarriage)

Is there any rust? Rust is a big issue because it can get expensive for the average person to deal with.

What would someone who buys it need to do to it?

Are the tires new or worn?
Are there any creaks / groans / odd noises?

I'm into it for about $10K over 7 years. Put 120K miles on it in that time. I don't expect to get it all out of course. It is a 25 year old vehicle.
Always a Calif car. Rust free. Needs nothing done to drive and enjoy. I would not hesitate to take it an a trip at any time. Even a long trip.
Seems the the prices on XJ's are have been holding well, or even going up for rust free ones. What is your assessment of the market?
Reason for selling is I am downsizing my motor pool. Selling the 2002 Dakota and 96 Cherokee. Will be buying a new Tacoma.
I am retired and do not play hard like I used to.
Tires are in great shape. Good for another 30K. Kevlar 31" Wranglers
Note that this is the only Two Door with Waggie quad light front grille in existence. FWIW. Factory never made a 2 door Wagoneer. It's a fun thing about this.

The full back seat assy is included. I just have the upright piece of of the vehicle and installed this sliding load floor.

I replaced the rocker cover a short time back. Top end looks good inside.

Kind of a Wagoneer. It started out as a 1996 Sport. I added the Wagoneer front. There were no factory two door Wagoneers. And I added a lot of Chrome stuff from Laredo. Like the power mirrors, door handles, and inner door panel trim. Here are some more recent interior pics with the Country wood grain bezel. Seats are out of 2000 XJ.

What do you think the "Wagoneer" premium would be?

I would take a look at your local listings on facebook marketplace/craigslist. What a jeep would sell for here in AZ is a lot different than what one would say in the northeast.

Problem right now is few are on those platforms for sale in our area. So I am gathering some opinions from you all.
I will keep checking.

Thanks

if you're not desperate to sell, List high with OBO, and take the best offer you get.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here with some counterpoints.

The high value XJs of late are low-mileage factory stock Jeeps with little to no rust. While your XJ is very clean and unique, it is not necessarily in the vein that seems to bring exceptionally high values. Vehicle modifications aren't investments; they are sunk costs and generally don't increase the value of the vehicle. Personally, I would never purchase a lifted vehicle and consider lifts to detract from the value.

Same thing with maintenance. If, for example, you had just dropped $5k on repairs - the vehicle is not immediately worth $5k more. Market value only accounts for a running vehicle in good condition - not the previous costs associated with keeping it that way.

If you don't mind haggling a bit, list high with OBO. I'll bite the bullet and actually throw out some numbers for you. In the Bay Area I'd probably ask $6k and accept $4k - $5k.

Thanks NM-XJ
The range I was figuring was $3900 to $4900 asking. So your input is helpful. Frankly, I am surprised these are going for this much money. I am used to Cherokees going for $1500 to $3000. Like back when I bought this seven years ago. What happened? All the good ones gone? Kids thrashed the rest? People still like these I guess. This is my fourth one. First was a 1986 with the Chevy V6 motor I bought new at the dealer. Some things have changed. But driving an XJ is like turning the clock back to the 80's!
