Default Shower, Hot Water Shower for Camping

Shower while camping, what a nicety!

What do you all do for hot water? Roof top solar? Have used a black 4 inch pvc pipe about five feet long mounted on roof, but it does not have enough solar heating area, holds about 3 gallon. A 5/8 inch dia fifty foot long coiled garden hose holds about 0.8 gallon, that would get hot, but need a lot.

Ideas?

Engine heated? exhaust heat?

Not sure I've ever seen anyone over here do a heated water storage tank. You'd likely be better off checking in with the people on Expedition Portal.

i use this, but you need to hang it in the sun. holds about 2 gallons. you pump it up for pressure. good to clean the mud off your windows and mirrors too.

Just us an electric heater setup to warm the water. Those things only need a few amps.

Use 1/4" flexible copper wrapped around your exhaust pipe, then wrap exhaust insulation around that. Let the engine idle, hook up an RV pump and take your shower

Anyone have build info on a hot water heat exchanger for the engine bay?

One day I'll have a heated water source on my XJ...someday.

My plan was to use a plate type heat exchange in line with the heater hoses. Something like THIS. Fed from an external water supply of some sort (bucket, faucet, stream, etc..) with an RV pump. Fire up Ol' Napalm, and let the cooling system heat the water. I imagine the the Jeep would only need to be marginally warm for enough heat to transfer for a nice rinse.
