part time is 4WD just not to be used on dry pavement, your wheels are turning the same speed, there is no viscouse coupler in the TC to change wheel speed for traction.

there is full time, but not in your case. only the 242 t-case has it.
the full time case will say full time on the 4wd shifter bezel. it sounds like you just have a 231 case with 2wd - 4hi - N - 4lo.
the part time light comes on to remind you so you don't drive it on the pavement.

Sorry for the crappy question. I'm just not familiar with it.
So Part Time is my 4wd. Should not be used on dry pavement. Only rain, snow, and offroading. Correct?

yes, whenever a wheel can slip.
as for the search button, if everyone used it properly, this forum would only have a few threads and be quite boring.
i personally don't mind the odd over asked question, as long as it's legit. lets be a little more friendly and helpful to the newbs.

Ya although I have seen a lot of new threads that have been covered recently it seems like it is slacking off on the helpful hints to newbies.

In the op's defense the search option does not always work. I.E. The other day I tried searching for "tie rod", simple enough huh, came back with "no results". So to remind some people, the search option does not always work.
