What made you buy a XJ?
Similar story to others....always loved 'em, always wanted one, but growing up in Michigan meant if I got one it's be a rust pile. My parents buy me a college graduation present - a 2000 Bonneville. I move to Virginia Beach for a job, 2 years later a lady rear-ends my Bonneville, so I had a viable excuse to give the wife for getting a "new" car - my 99 XJ

I've always admired jeeps even checked a few times on buying a used one but could never afford one .
Then I found a steal on my xj $ 1,300 . Man I love it . It has minor dents & a few scratches , but it's mechanicly sound .
Now I just have to give it some attitude .

When its cold out and it starts the aic ticks idle is fine smooth as can be at 500 rpm no stalling issues. What do you do here is it normal for the aic to tick on these trucks? Dunno no issues are present but the annoying noise. help!!!!

Dang a hardcore Jeep fan eh?
I'm almost disappointed in my Jeep. Their is around 4 grand into it from the aftermarket scene and it just isn't what I expected. I mean it's a good rig and it looks B/A but from what I've experienced and seen from other big XJs; they just aren't all they are cracked up to be. I'm sure a front locker would change all this though

lol... the only practical thing left to do would be a long arm kit and a locker in the front. I guess I included bumpers and rock sliders in that price but as far as performance goes I have about 2 grand in lift and tires, another $4-500 in my rear (giggity!), and a $850 or $950 winch.

I'm going up to state college PA in a year and wanted a 4 wheel drive. Always loved jeeps and especially cherokees, so the choice was obvious. I knew id like it, but I didn't know I love it as much as I do now.

Well my mom bout it for 500 bucks. I drove it from marion to fort wayne for her. Then I had no luck finding a car because mine was hit and they totaled it. They gave 3200 bucks for a car i paid 1100 for it. Well long story short I had to drive the jeeps for a few days and never gave it back. So i paid my mom 500 for it.
Wanted one since i was 16 but all my friends were in the car scene so i went that route. Met a guy that also drove a SRT-4, his wife drove a 91 cherokee laredo 4x4. I told him when ever he wanted to sell i would buy it from him and we settled on a price at $1200 when ever that day came. Well he wrecked his dad truck going to work and they had already bought his wife a 98 ford explorer so they gave the father the jeep. Well the father never took care of the jeep as in no oil changes or any maintenece not even a car wash/vaccum for 2.5 years. Well it broke down on him and he said it needed an engine so we settled on $100 for the jeep, I go look at it have it towed to my shop find out it had a cracked head and blowin head gasket. I decided to go ahead and do everything from the block up ended up spending $900. Now i have a very dependable DD/weekend trail rig

i started by going on a ride with some wrangler owners and afetr that i just had to have one and i traded my mustang for a real nice yj.after a while i wanted more room so i traded it for my first xj.got rid of it and long story short i ended up with another mustang and traded it off for another xj and now im keeping this one
I bought mine for the fact that it can do anything I ask of it. We have some AWESOME wheelin in the Black hills here. And some awesome stuff up in the hills to just see. I wanted a wheelin rig, something to take the kids and the dog in, go fishing with. And didn't like the fact of beating up my truck.
My jeep, it doesn't really bother me if I slide into a tree up in the woods, and it has taken us to some really cool places.

I had a lifted 1979 Bronco with 39" swampers that I used to take out playing a lot. During the summer I always had the topper off and loved the feeling. I sold that and moved into a CJ7, topless all summer as well. I rebuilt the Jeep from the ground up and love everything about it......except the size. Now, 10 years later, with a growing family I wanted to get something a little bigger so naturally I looked for a Cherokee until I found the perfect one. I couldn't be happier.
So far they seem easy to work on and I love the looks of the squared off front ends. Yep, I'll be keeping this one for awhile as well.

well i've been around the block a few times with wheeling, i used to own an 84 bronco on 38.5" mickey thompsons, and i used to bash trees down with that truck, but after my samurai experience and my xp with a nissan hard body pickup with at z24 motor swap and a 318 ddodge carb along with welded diffs i was extremely impressed with my 93 xj's performance, later found out it had welded diff's, that truck was insane, took it places my bronco couldn't go, and was so impressed i power braked it in the middle of a mud hole and drove right out, actually the truck moved when i power braked it, should have removed front ds, but since that truck i have fantasized about an xj on 35's and now i have it, and i bet once i get lockers that truck will go anywhere i please. so that first xj is the reason for the fascination and I haven't looked back since a guy told me he could pull my jeep out and i literally ran circles around his stuck lifted up toyota in the mud. this was florida mud too and some nasty stuff. i also pulled out
