I'm interested in hearing why everyone ended up with their XJ. So as the title says, why did you choose a Jeep?

I'll go first. I started wheeling at a very young age with my old man. I went from a K10, to a Nissan hardbody, to a XJ. All 3 vehicles were setup for wheeling and great off road. The K10 all around out-performed the Jeep and Nissan, the Nissan was better than the XJ in the mud but the XJ was way better on rocks and wet logs. It was Chevy biased though, the K10 had about 400 horses in front of a 700R4 (ultra low first gear) and 4.10's.

I live in Buffalo and we get 4 feet of snow over night once in a while and my grand prix was not cutting it. I bought the truck its ok i just have a AIC issue and I had it for only a week. I dont see how to post a new topic so heres my issue.

When its cold out and it starts the aic ticks idle is fine smooth as can be at 500 rpm no stalling issues. What do you do here is it normal for the aic to tick on these trucks? Dunno no issues are present but the annoying noise. help!!!!

I hope nobody hates a 15 year old turning 16 in 4 months. Anyways the way we got our xj is our old ford escort died and my dad's mechanic/friend told us he had a car for us. He started saying he has a 2000 mercury tracer. So when we saw the car my dad was just about to leave because he was not interested in a small car. Then when the mechanic opened the garage to get the keys I caught my eye on a 2000 jeep cherokee classic. Then my dad got very excited and I got excited too. So long story short we needed a good big car for the snow and safety and we ended up in the Jeep.
Sorry if it was so long lol

My G'pa always had some sort of Jeep, so I grew up around them and always wanted one, I've had a CJ7, Wrangler, Cherokee Country and now my Cherokee Limited and Liberty CRD, the Cherokee is the best, good for all seasons and roomy for everyone, I can tow my horse trailer and haul feed as well, just very reliable, comfortable and practical for my lifestyle.....not to mention they are a good looking rig!

Dang a hardcore Jeep fan eh?

I'm almost disappointed in my Jeep. Their is around 4 grand into it from the aftermarket scene and it just isn't what I expected. I mean it's a good rig and it looks B/A but from what I've experienced and seen from other big XJs; they just aren't all they are cracked up to be. I'm sure a front locker would change all this though

I wanted a comfortable (I am old) off road vehicle that I could sleep in instead of a tent..I camp ALOT and was doing it for years out of my wranglers in the past and tired of tents blowing around gettin wet etc. I have a memory foam mattress and blankets that I set back there and I am safe from non legged and multi legged creatures that roam where I play
My xj is one of my toys so it stays packed and ready to go at a moments notice to go out and play/camp

My dad gave it to me because he never drove it. I was going to sell it, but decided it would be fun to have a truck to wheel since I have never done that. Now I love doing stuff to it and being able to get it dirty and not mind scratches. Unfortunately since my dad hardly ever drove it and only changed the oil I have needed to replace many parts which are adding up.

Four of my buddies had them(all sold/traded). Each one was lifted. I always had fun in them. So I bought my friend's for cheap when it was on it's last leg.

I started off wheeling a 89 trooper I picked up for $350.00
and I when wheeled that for around a year. It was beat to crap
when I bought it so after a year it was in need of alot of work.

So i decided to just get another rig. I looked around for a few
months months and I found this old police xj I just had to
have. I also got it because it was already lifted 3inches and
had 31's on it now I want a 4.5inch lift and 33's

to be honest, I just found a good deal... I have always liked Jeep stuff but never owned one until now. But I find myself really loving where this is going. I live in Northern Colorado in the mountains (7500+ft) and need a good reliable vehicle with 4x4... this fit the bill and more.

My passion for Jeeps started at a very young age lol

What made you buy a XJ?-jeep-child0001.jpg

Basically, my ex step-dad and I were having problems with the Nissan Sentra we had to share. It was a bad case of I fill up gas and do repairs while he did crap. Plus, the country boy in me wanted a truck.

Well, I finally talked my mother into co-signing a loan with me (I was 16), and I went about searching for a vehicle. I at first looked at a couple of F-150's and S10's, but they just didn't do it for me. Then I looked at some Jeep vehicles, and I instantly loved the Cherokee. But alas, I could not find one to save my life. Then (this is where the real magic comes in), one night I decided to look one last time on the local ads for an XJ before I went with a Ranger, and what would you know a guy had just posted a listing for one literally minutes before I looked. Called him, test drove it, bought it, and have loved it and cared for it every since.

I had a 88 Toyota single cab that I loved and miss but I had to "upgrade" to a larger vehicle to accommodate my growing family.

Man I really miss my Toyota....I'm mainly a beach wheeler and that truck was perfect. Don't get me wrong. The xj is great on the beach but I miss having a truck bed.

Well it all started when I was young. I always liked lifted jeeps. I told my dad that when I grew up I wanted one. But as I grew up and was old enough to get I car I wanted a ricer. All my friends are into them. Then the opportunity came and my brother had a Cherokee for sale. It was his mother-in-laws jeep. As far as I know she never took it wheelin. She doesn't seem that type lol.
