This is what happens when you're me...
You fail your emissions test because you have no cat converter... I guess the previous owner found it necessary to remove it. I mean it's only a federal offense, no big deal right?
Anyway, now I'm in need of one. Anyone know where I can find one for cheap? Don't really care what brand/model, I just need a failry cheap one. Also, how easy are they to install? I'm probably going to run to NAPA/Autozone/other auto parts store and find one quickly tomorrow or today.
Also, flame on all you want. I was stupid enough to know I didn't have one, say what you want. I'm not a mechanic, I'm a vet assistant.
Here's my results, I passed with flying colors....except for no cat.
To mods/admins, I know this is talk of illegal activity so if it's not a good topic, please lock/rease it. Thanks.

the newer xj's have more than 1 cat. a second emissions test after you failed should be free right? (it is in TN)...i'd say just get a generic one and throw it on so your a legal again.

Slip fits are VERY easy to install...
I have a CatCo Hi-Flow on my XJ and ZJ... Slipped right on.. NP.
And I would certainly stand up in your defense with the mods. You are talking about the consequences of an illegal action... not promoting one... ENORMOUS difference.
