when i first came to this country in 2002, i lived with friends that had some property. walking out in the woods, i found this '78 4wd Dodge Adventurer. my buddy didn't even know that it was back there. being in need of transportation, i asked him if i could buy it from him, and he said i could have it. so, i dragged it out and took the carb apart and cleaned it, put it back together, tried to drain the gas tank, but what came out didn't look like gasoline. anyway, about a week of work and i got it started, but it ran like crap. so i took the tired 360 out and rebuilt it to 396. that thing snapped 2 driveshafts. the amount of torque was unbeliveable. couldn't get it stock if you actually stopped in 2 feet of mud.
i have been through some tough trails in Russia, in Niva and UAZ469, and they are some nice little trucks, but never so serious of an intention to leave the house with a sole purpose of trying to get a vehicle stuck in a rough terrain.
that's an American thing.
I'm a Mopar guy, and there's nothing else Mopar makes that can compare to the ride quality and the capability of an XJ.
there is absolutely no feeling like taking a little XJ on a trail and having to stop right in the middle of the mud to ask the stuck full size truck guys if you can help them in any way.
