my dads always had a ford 4x4 truck and back when i was real small we would take dirt roads out to places that normally no one could get too and shoot guns and play with the dogs
and being into motocross my whole life iv always loved the dirt

but having three 2wheel drive trucks when i finally got a 4x4 i was even more hooked
made it even better knowing it was a clean 95 xj with only 58k miles when i bought it!!!! that was this year in 2010!

Twas in the carseat of a 90 Cherokee. Dad would drive around in 4 low in the snow and I thought it was the coolest. I dont do as much offroad driving as I would like but I want to find some trails to take my stock cherokee on and maybe use the 4x4.

Dad had a Willis flat fender when I was a kid for hunting then when I was 15 me and a buddy bought a CJ5 for $200. Wheeled it till we killed it then got into muscle cars. Got tired of speeding tickets and bought a 85 Yota rolled it, built a cab truck then got a free ZJ. Built it then rolled it but had a Jeep bug and got Barney (present XJ). Had several others along the way but the old purple XJ just won't die.

my step dad had an 88yj whch he built up and wheeledfor a few years with the ocal club, i would go with him everytime and it was awesome. There is one fellow in the club who had a cherokee, i think about a 95, and he let me drive it...that was the beginning of my mankrupcy. Now my step dad has a lifted jk with a bunch of toys and he let me drive that ocaisionally untill i bought my own jeep.

I got my first 4x4 back in 2007. I guess I needed a change from just driving a car. It was a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited 4X4 (auto) and I loved it alot. I couldn't keep it though as I encountered so money issues. I wasn't able to enjoy it in the winter as I only had it for 8 months or so (March to October)

That did it, I had to have another Jeep as soon as I could be back on my feet. A year or so later, I got a 2008 Jeep Patriot North Edition 4x4 (standard) It was fun to drive and I liked it, but then I got laid off at work so had to get rid of it.

Then last October, decided to get a used one instead and got my XJ. Now, this one is here to stay

I probably need to give credit to my mom as well. She indoctrinated me in the Jeep ways. She was the one who bought the old cherokee. She lived next to the Jeep plant when she was a kid and swore she would buy one some day. She loved that old Jeep.

I raced off road cars back in the mid 70's. We built single seater tube frame chassis cars from scratch. Most of the cars (including ours) were based on VW mechanical components but we started to see some of the Japenese motors of the day becoming popular. Occassionally we raced with the trucks which included a number of Jeeps. Of the 3 guys on our "team", 2 towed their off road cars with Jeeps. I was the odd man out and used a 68 Chevy station wagon. I did have a 69 CJ though at the time. I used it mostly for snow plowing in the winter which paid my way through college ... and my racing!

This one wasn't mine but it's almost identical to what I raced in about 1973 ...

my dad has always had 4wd trucks, but never really took them off road. his theory was "if i can find a 4wd for the same price (or sometimes cheaper) than the 2wd, then i'll get the 4x4" finally about 4 years ago a guy at my church wanted to introduce people to off roading. being out doors people we decided to try it. so we hopped in the 84 dodge power ram 350 SRW crew cab and went on our first off road trip. ended up liking off roading but later got a 91 dodge power ram 350 dually with a cummins turbo diesel, and sold the older ram. left it stock, and ended up doing a lot more with it than we thought:
over the years of off roading with our church group, i noticed many XJs amongst the group, both stock and modified. so i turned 16 and got my license, but my dad already got me a 92 toyota p/u for cheap, but it ended up being a POS. so after selling that he bought the 87 XJ i drive today. now i go wheeling with the group even when my dad can't make it. thats how i got into off roading
