I hate the ticking noise, and less than smooth idle from the 4.0
My 96 F-150 had the 4.9 I6 and was so smooth and quiet you'd think it was off if you were in the cab.
I know an injector upgrade would smooth out the idle but nothing will make it quiet.

Not what I hate, but what I would change...
Slim stubby bumper with a recessed winch, stretch the front and be able to use the cable as a suck down winch, sliders are bent and I wish they were up higher so I could have cut the doors a lot and done boat sides, my exhaust is too close to the floor and gets damaged every damn time I ride, leaf springs suck, rear shock holes need small thin shocks to be able to work with the right amount of travel and I need to order new new ones, burns oil, smells, it isn't chopped, and still has full doors instead of half doors. I think I have to compromise this rig at a point and build another with what I know.

i kinda feel the same way i daily my jeep and dont wheel it enough to justify it not being my dd and i think ive over built it for what i need, i really want to build a mild mj 3-4'' of lift, clayton 3 link 31-32s untrimmed with a 5.3l and a full 97+ conversion including the dash....i guess thats not very mild but watever lol
I wish I would have gone from 2wd to tons all in one step. Save money and a whole lot of time, but I learned how to wheel and I've learned a lot about XJ's in the process. I'll probably get another one lol
