Hey everyone,
I'm trying to help a friend of mine find a Cherokee (he's been bitten by the bug) Here is a link to one that we came across, and I wanted to see what you all thought.

price?
what to look for on an older model?
Any common issues? (ie. the head gasket issue on certain casting numbers of the '01 Cherokee)

2k seams a little expensive in my opinion, but not bad. from the pics it looks to be in pretty good condition. things to look out for...
  • rust along rocker panel and bottom of doors is common
  • front end looks a little dinged up, just make sure it hasn't bent or twisted anything important
  • go over the wiring, the more you check the better. custom wiring in an old cherokee is fine if you know what it is, but if you dont and there is a bunch of extra stuff in there you will loose your mind in the first year.
thats just my 2cents.

Whats his price range? If i were to buy another one, It would be a 97-99 and i would probably pay between 2500-4000.

Thanks for the input .
He doesn't want to spend more then 2k on one. I'm sure once I go up there with him to look at it and if it checks out ok, we should be able to talk the guy down to 1200-1300

Hi

Look what you can get in the UK XJ's are real cheap here!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-JEEP-CHER...item2311f968ef

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jeep-Cherokee-...item3367e58771

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-JEEP-CHER...item20baf71e41

You would only get about £700 for the white one you ar elooking at in the UK.

I got my 1995 with 48K Genuine miles 4.0L HO for £1200!

Nothing major but I noticed in ad says driver and pass. airbags which it would not have. The interior looks clean that's nice for a daily driver.
