The guy i called about this wanted 800 but i got him down to 600 on the phone..it has220XXX, and like the ad says...the brakes dont hold pressure so "he" thinks its the master cylinder...i figured id post it on here with all of you Cherokee experts and let me know a few things as far as, should i try and go lower when i actually check it out, what all i should look for on the Cherokee (besides rust will most definitely inspect the hell out of it for that) and are there any threads on here on how to change the master cylinder? thanks again!

Barring any other major repairs, sounds like a fair price. I paid $700 for mine in 2008 with less mileage and more problems, so you may be getting a deal if it's just a bad brake master cylinder.
As far as repair, search on the forum - Good Luck!!

As long as it's not the Bendix 9 ABS with the acumulator built into the master cylinder. If it has a vacuum booster, 75 bucks for a NEW master and you're set.

Look for a vacuum brake booster, it will be a black can about 10 inches around with a vacuum hose that goes to the intake manifold.

The master cylinder and accumulator assembly is very expensive and very problematic, But think you're right, 91 was the last year for the Bendix 9 system.
