I'm asking for advice. I'm new to this forum even though I have two XJs. I've only lurked since they are only daily drivers - my daughter's not mine. Mine's a JK.
We've stolen parts from the '99 to fix the '01.
So now I need advice.
I'm in the suburbs of Chicago. The closest wheeling of any kind is way out of town. The really good wheeling is out of state. So the market here isn't great. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of XJ crawlers around here.
I'm wondering if I should just part out the '99 or try to sell it as a piece to someone who wants to build a crawler. It's a perfect candidate for that. The drive train is solid except for the missing front axle.
The bumper and grill are gone as well. But the rest is sound if rather ratty.
So do you think somebody would buy it to build a crawler?
Or should I just part it out?
I really need to get it out of my garage in the next couple months.
Winter is coming.
Thanks for any advice.

Personal opinion, I would rather have all the pieces there before I started to work on something. You never know what you're really getting into with buying a parted out jeep to fix from ground up essentially. I would part it out or scrap it. Parting it out is going to keep it in your garage much longer than I think you would like

Yeah it's mostly the time crunch that makes me want to move it in one deal.
If nobody builds crawlers in this area then it's Sawzall time. Ouch.
