Default WHat to DO?

I've decided to go with a 6.5in lift on my XJ. But what all do I also needed to change/add in order to put a lift that size on?

Keep spare yokes an u-joints in the glove box. Unless you are going o do a SYE kit. Get the right size tire for that lift. The right length brake lines and sway bar end links that are meant for that height. Upgrade

Ok. Id rather go with a SYE kit then. I was talking to a guy here in dayton oh the other day and he had a 6.5in rough country lift i dont remeber his name but he said his truck is great for snow and everything. But im not doing it right away so I can spend a little more money to make sure everything is good

Welcome to the forum. The lift you choose all depends on what kind of terrain or how much clearance you need.

for a 6.5 in lift id say minumum ur gonne want an sye and new steering and new track bar. also gonna need new shocks and extended brake lines.
some of this may come with the lift.

deff gonna want larger tires and lockers as well.

and if ur going that tall then id say its time for all the protection u can afford.
bumpers skids winches cages whatever. but thats all the optionals.

oh also if ur goin that high u probly wanna bumpstop and limit strap accordingly

oh and ditch ur sway bars IMO ( at least the rear )

Ill just be in mud and creeks with small rocks not much else. I just want it lifted that high. Anyone on here that has had a 6.5in lift put on what did everything run you in cost? Also is there really a big difference between a 4.5in and 6.5?

id say if ur just dealin with small rocks
stick with 4.5 in lift thats plenty! as long as u bumpstop and limit strap properly.

for me my 4.5 long arm was about 1300$
sye was about 200$
then steering i went currie which was 500$
track bar came with lift kit.
my 35x12.5 bfg km2s were 1000$
my lockers were 1000$ aussie front detroit rear
4.56 gears were 500$
shocks i picked up for 300$ (upgrading soon and spending 500$ on fronts alone)

probly want cv driveshafts as well which could run u up to another 500$

( thats over 5000 dollars and im not even going top of the line )

then if u want skids/bumpers
tomken gas skid was 200$
diff skids front and rear were 100$
front bumper anywhere from 200-800
rear bumper anywhere from 200-1000
sliders anywhere from 200-600
unibody stiffners 200-300
transfer case skid 100ish

ITS EXPENSIVE

JEEP= Just Empty Every Pocket

No. A lot of that was add ons and Armor/bumpers/lockers that don't have anything to do with the suspension.

The maximum that you need for a 6.5 inch lift is a slip yoke eliminator. Everything else is optional since most reputable kits come with the add-ons you need. You can opt for a control arm lowering kit to help with ride quality.

I see though, that you are looking at the 4.5 inch lift. At that price though, you might as well go with the 6.5 by Rough Country:

My Cherokee has no add-ons except for the 6.5" lift, SYE, and control arm lowering kit. Runs fine and safe on 33" tires.

Thanks!

SYE is the bare minimum necessary, but it's always a good idea to consider the aforementioned add-ons:

The dual steering stabilizer is a great addition for larger tires and 4:56 gearing is also a great recommendation for larger tires in the 33-35" range. The steering stabilizer will make steering feel more natural and smooth with the bigger tires and the gearing change will increase your MPGs, torque, and acceleration.
