If it has room to work, you'll find an angle grinder will zap those things a lot faster and easier than a recipro saw.
I don't have a decent angle grinder yet, unfortunately. I rigged up something that seemed like it should work with a HF air tool but it feels and looks unsafe so I went with the DeWalt sawzall. Then I realized that I bought 6" blades instead of what I needed, the 8" blades. In the end I just backed the bolts out that were interfering. Soon as I did that and flexed the suspension a little on a test drive, I realized the following: the right side bolt is interfering with full suspension travel because it's being held up by the muffler.
Guess I'll be using those new blades after all. It's too dark to take pics but I'll get some tomorrow.
Took care of some brake lines. The lines along the firewall werent that stressful, but i did have to pull some vacuum hoses, the EVAP canister, and pull the harnesses away from the firewall. Snaking the lines in around and under the steering shaft was the worst of it.
I started prepping the free hood I got awhile back for paint and cleaning up the cuts. I don't know when I'll finish it but I started it. Can you spot the mistake I made?
I wrenched on my 2dr pretty hard this weekend - swapped out injectors for a complete set of 4-holes from K Suspension, replaced all the battery/power cables from K Suspension as well, installed a H4 headlight harness and Rampage H4 headlights, then did the fuel pump only to have the j bolts for the gas tank strap snap in half.
Finding these bolts is dang-near impossible! Advance sells the straps with j bolts but my local shop only had one bolt (weird). The closest dealer that had these in stock is 2.5 hrs away and only had one. So, I had to order them from Mopar - hopefully they get here soon. Fortunately, the GF doesn't have to go to the hospital again for two weeks (she's on her telemedicine shift right now) so she doesn't need the Jeep but man - rocking and rolling just to be stopped by two rusty bolts... gas tank is just sitting on the ground with an all-new Bosch pump ready to go in.
So I am not really sure why but I picked up 4 bolts today to cap the holes that the bolts for the coil rail go in.
In case anybody is interested the ones I bought are M8X1.25X12's.
I anti-seized them and just screwed them in by hand.
I figure it will keep crap out of the hole and for the 32 cents they cost me why not.
Finally found the water leaks in my 94. Turned out to be the door seals were leaking as well as the hatch seal. Ordered new ones from CarId and Quadratec.. The old ones still had the factory numbers on them, a little faded but still there. So if these replacement ones las half as long I'll be happy. Going to give her a bath today and see how they seal up.
Update on the leak,
Four inches of rain in 72 hours and it is still as dry as a popcorn fart inside.
Trade-offs. The repair is only a patch but the floor not getting wet is paramount.
After years of improvments I finally got the guys together and convinced them to help me paint the XJ. Took a bunch of miller light but got it done in one marathon day!
Baggin timeeee Last Tacking Thick mist Next morning lookin glossy
Used Eastwood 3:1 Urethane Boulevard Black, pretty happy with the results but will have to do some wet sanding and buffing.... of course.
