What did you do to your Cherokee today?
So as always while hesitant to claim victory I drove the Jeep around the block a bunch of times.
Seemed OK so I went to my P.O. Box which really just around the corner anyway.
I purposely did not clear the code with my scanner when I put the new plug in and started her.
Let her run for a few moments, seemed fine, CEL stayed on, shut her down, and cleared the CEL.
Now I know when you do this all the monitors clear too. So they all read N/A.
Until you drive then they start coming up.
What I am curious about is how much, if anything, does the ECM have to relearn when you do this?
I figure little if anything cause why do we go through the trouble of disconnecting the battery when we do
something more significant. Like upgrade to 4 hole injectors.

So, I put a '96 Tire carrier on my 01. To be honest, it wasn't difficult. I had to cut the strike plate down significantly, put a plate in the hatch, and was concerned that I didn't brace it enough, but then I realized the early gen XJ's had fiberglass hatches. I was able to retain use of the rear wiper, I had to rotate a hair counterclockwise for clearance. Next is tag and tag light relocation. It will be painted, but due to it not being a direct bolt on, I wanted to give it time to settle and work out any bugs that may need modifying before I coat it down good. Need a 5th center cap tho.

[QUOTE=Ralph77;3587197]I don't know if they are interchangeable or not.
Not even sure that I have the circular one in my Jeep but pretty sure. I would have to go look.
Guys have rebuilt them kinda.
Maybe you could throw some hose around the part of the pipe that goes in there.
Figure just get hose that could handle the most heat. Tranny hose maybe?
I ended up buying the one from the link you provided I believe, thank you sir. I have yet to take pics but the old one was pretty funky and bulging like crazy. The "new" unit from Ebay was in great shape but the hole was a little bigger so I ended using some long slivers of rubber mulch (so basically recycled tires) to help snug it up better. The end result was no more annoying noise on startup as it is no longer contacting the cross member.

What I have waiting in the wings.
So you did not use an support pieces behind the hatch or the bumper?
This is a parts diagram for that.
I don't have the support pieces either but figure that is just metal so......
Did you trim the back of the bumper cap or is the tire carrier just on top of it?
