Propane doesn't get anywhere near hot enough. MAPP gas might do the trick if you use a good penetrating oil.

Finally pulled the throttle body, cleaned it, and slapped on new sensors.

The screws to the sensors were on real tight, especially the TPS screws that had loctite on the threads. Had to let it sit with PB blaster for an hour, and then carefully rock the screws back and forth until the glue let loose.

Cleaned with a tooth bushed and lots of paper towels. There was oily carbon build up on the inside of TB - does it mean anything?
Slapped on the new sensors, new gasket, put it all back together and fired it up.

Couldn't figure out why when briefly I gave the gas pedal a light tap the idle would jump to 2,000 rpm. Had me stumped for a while until I read here that I had to reset the computer.
Now it is running real nice. Smooth idle and faster acceleration on the highway.
Still idling at around 1,200 (did this before) but it has been dropping since I cleaned the TB. Only have about 8 trips on it, so I figure the computer is still adjusting itself. Hopefully the idle rpms will drop closer to 1,000.

Mine was the stuckingest thing I've ever wrenched. Got a nice bite on it with a BF pipe wrench (already rounded it off even using a six-point) but couldn't get enough leverage because of space. I wanted to press up (like a bench press) so as not to bend the down pipe left or right (seemed weaker in those directions. I saw that I could remove the front drive shaft and viola! Plenty of room to torque in the directions I wanted. Came right out after that.

I got the chance to go to a NAXJA- met-n-greet and open house for Hooligan Off Road and CrawlTech 4X4 It was a gas. There were all kinds of crawlers, Rigs of all makes and about 30 XJ's.
They also had a raffle for several great items. A couple I really was wanting. One was a transfer case linkage up-grade from http://www.boostwerksengineering.com/ and the mid stiffeners that Hooligan Off Road makes https://www.hooliganoffroad.com/
I did not bring any cash with me so I went to my XJ and dug $5 bucks for one ticket. Guess what? I won the mid stiffeners, Hoot! Hoot!

I sold my XJ today. Ive got the 2008 wk as a replacement though. Believe it or not, the sale of the xj almost paid for the 2008 wk. The wk is a much nicer DD. We will see how it handles the snow.
