I continued my trademark overanalyzing, trying to decide on my next set of tires

Your not alone Iv been debating what tires to get for months. So far iv narrowed it down to. Goodyear duratrac. Goodyear fierce attitude. Mickey thompson claws. Maxxis bighorn. Bfg km2. And I'm sure I'll find others that I like. I also can't decide if I want to get 265s again or 33s.

Toyo Open Country M/T
Goodyear MT/R-K
BFG AT KO2 (reluctantly)
Maxxis Trepador
Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ

Every time I think I've decided, I find something new about one of them

What did you think of the Toyos? Mud / snow / street

The only tire I've used on that list is the MTZ. I'd get Firestone Destination M/Ts if they made them in a 37, but no dice

Have you looked at the Cooper STT Pros yet?

I run the straight STT, and love them...thinking of moving to the pro series next round. BTW I've been through 2 sets in 3 states, so they've seen it all. Great tire at a reasonable price.

Care to elaborate? That's almost the epitome of "One of these things is nothing like the other."

I'm in a toss between the Firestone Destination MTs and the Cooper STT Pro. But then, I have plenty of time to decide at this point.

It would be a solid purchase. I DD my Jeep about 80 highway miles per day, and I need to contend with wet pavement/standing water, snow, ice, and wet grass.

When it comes to actual offroad use, I only manage to take a few trips each year. I just don't like how A/T tires look, especially that particular one.

If it's just a few trips do you need the 37s like is it lifted enough that 35s would look goofy because then you could get the firestones and probably also save some money from all that driving.

Fair point. Makes perfect sense.

Similar boat. I also have to be able to commute on ice and 18"+ of snow...I have siped KM2's on my MK right now but on ice the lack of lateral traction can be disconcerting(thank goodness for exceptional traction control systems otherwise I'd have never felt right giving it to the wife to DD). I got some worn duratracs from a friend that I DD'd on the ZJ and they did alright. I'm currently leaning toward KO2's. Might just decide to go winter/summer and eventually get Duratracs and KM2s or STT. Also looked at the treadwrights with the Kedge but still a bit leary about retreads.

Well that got longer than I thought it would. [/rant]

Oh and Cooper AT3's have really good reviews minus the incredibly weak sidewall...

This is with 37s. It's a matter of opinion, but I definitely wouldn't put 35s on it

That was the pic that came to my mind when he said that. The 37's already seem fairly small. Could you even go 40's? Or do you have enough flex they'd rub? Also you DD it so that could be too much?

I don't have axles to support 40s. Tire weight is actually one of the factors I'm considering as I shop around, and I think I'm gonna drop the extra coin on alloy wheels for the same reason. I can switch to Street Rod tags in 2018, and then I can do whatever I want. The plan is to stretch with D60/14b and 40s or 42s
