What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Mine leaked out some more residual fluid that was in the shaft after a 45 min drive. I think it warmed up and the remaining fluid was able to flow more easily. Dried it up and no new fluid since so there may be hope for you yet(?).

There is a pool of gear oil in the base of that knuckle. Enough leaked out yesterday to cause the front diff to be noisy to the point I thought my tires were about to have a tread separation.
PITA but parts are cheap and there were some pretty decent Youtube vids on replacing the seals. Good luck.

removing the carrier and reinstalling it scares the bejeezus out of me. Terrified of messing with the backlash somehow and then grenading the diff at 80mph.
Should I actually be afraid of that?

Sounds like its costly to have done. Thank goodness for YouTube-

If you happen to lose a shim or swap you'd be screwed though...pretty risky for a first time activity I would think? (I've only considered...never done)
I'd need to be asking asking a lot of questions.

Mine was leaking so I started researching to size the job up. Lucky for me it stopped so I did too. Taking apart and putting back together one that was already setup and working doesn't look too bad. But it always does in videos and shop manuals doesn't it?

Drilled through the broken bolts that snapped when I took the battery tray out last Monday to replace the alternator. Replaced with three new bolts and nuts. Happy camper

Absolutely nothing done to it today because I am waiting on that rear output oil slinger/dust cap to finish up the TC overhaul
This will be my last order from 4 Wheel Parts Canada. Since they can not be bothered to let a customer know is a part is on back order or even return a call from the customer, I don't think I can be bothered to spend my money with them.
CS goes a long way to keeping my business. All it would have taken was an email or returned call to let me know what was up and an expected delivery date. This is the second time they have done this to me. Once is a possible over sight, twice is just wrong, and there is never a third time.
