I hope not. The AW4 auto trans is designed to use Dex/Merc. The NP231 transfer case doesn't care what you put in it as long as it has trans fluidOriginally Posted by CCKen

Lol! Right on! I think I'm going to upgrade my fan clutch soon (I've had the Jeep for 3 yrs and never done it) and use the same one as you. I've heard it's a very slight fuel drain but since I rarely ever drive mine (~4k this year), it's a non-issue and the increased capacity seems worth it, especially in the south where temps are typically higher longer.Originally Posted by thatXJguy

It's a NP231.
If it has a position that says Full Time, it's a NP242

If you're running a larger transmission cooler, which gets in the way of the radiator, the larger fan will make up for the decreased air flow, giving you the performance you'd expect in a Cherokee.Originally Posted by 4WD4EVER

Just the stock one as of right now, but you never know. If I'm going to replace the fan clutch I figure I may as well upgrade. Any downside(s) you're aware of?Originally Posted by thatXJguy

Started working on my shackle relocation brackets. All I planned on doing today was to drop the shackles so I could measure mark and cut the parts to make the brackets. Well as all good plans go, this one didn't
The passenger side upper bolt came out with just a little elbow grease, a 24" breaker bar and a lot of penetrating oil. The drivers side started out the same, but got hung up in the sleeve which in turn started to spin inside the bushing. I ended up borrowing a reciprocating saw and cutting it off. Burned through a few blades and broke a few more, but about 90 minutes ago I managed to cut it through enough to break it off and get it free of the shackle box.
Tomorrow morning I will disconnect the shocks and drop the springs out of the way get my measurements, do some cutting and welding and put it all back together. Really wishing I had done the cut and fold when I replaced the quarter panels, it would have gave me so much more room to work

Yesterday in my 2002 WJ Laredo, I replaced the front driver's interior door handle assembly. The door handle actuator rod slipped out when I was installing new front door speakers the other day and the plastic broke around the hole the door handle actuator rod fits into, so I replaced it. The door handle actuator rod also got bent in the process, so I bent it back into place.
