Well I got a little bit done! I bed-lined (Herculiner) my interior about 4 days ago. After being nice and in the 50's, It suddenly dropped into the teens and I had to wait forever for it to dry. I would have liked to put my racing seats in too but the front part still needs another day.

So I put the rack in that I built! It turned out ridiculously strong. I can shake it and shake the entire Jeep. It easily holds over 375lbs, (my grandfather and I both stood on it). Only weighs about 40ish lbs. I am happy with it. Now to make some drawers and a sub-box to take up about 1/2 of the underside. It should prevent anything from flying out and nailing my daughter in the head lol (winch in a basket, fire extinguisher etc). Im pretty happy with the Herculiner. It did a great job! Had my rack been 1/8 bigger, it wouldn't have fit. Just threw some heavy recycled tire rubber on top.

On a side note, has anyone ever actually used a Bazooka tube? I am thinking about just getting one of their 10" 250watt self amplified ones and strapping it somewhere on the side.

I think I might just hang the drawers from the rack- about 5" or so down. Save as much space as possible. Only has to hold my tools- pop a few bolts up through the rack I guess. Not sure how I am going to do it yet.

Changed my valve cover gasket. Only used the gasket, no rtv. Is my engine a ticking time bomb now?

I used the felpro gasket recently which was a definite improvement over the leaky factory gasket. Nor rtv just proper torque specs and it has been leak free thus far. I think the box mentioned something about no rtv.

I borrowed a torque wrench but it only shows foot/lbs so I just tightened them snug with just a little extra. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mine was a victor gasket.

Oh and one bolt was snapped. Thankfully I was able to back it out by hand. Just replacing it might have done the trick.

That rack turned out great. I might have to make one of my own.

Bought an in-lb wrench at harbor freight. First one didn't work but second one did the trick.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with it! Cheap/Easy too. Would have doubled the cost to use expanded metal like I wanted but that sturdy fence works great! Especially since its welded in about 60 spots.

I made it 42" wide, 19" tall (not including back part) And 29" deep. If I did it again, I would have gone 28" deep so it wasn't quite touching the seat/door. Used about 30' of 1" square tubing, about 2' of flat 1", and about 6' of 1" angle.

Nice job. I like it a lot. Where'd you get that mat?
