Went and picked up a set of snow tires for my brother then crawled under it and pulled the NSS, cleaned and repaired the switch (fingers crossed). It was lots of fun pulling the switch with all the slush and water dripping off the under carriage.

Just waiting for a bit of epoxy to cure before putting the switch back together so I can re-install it. The bottom part of the plastic housing was broken out, about 1/8th of it, and I think that may have been part of my P0705/P0700 CEL. The switch wasn't too dirty, but the contacts were a little corroded. A quick buffing with some 2500 grit wet dry sand paper and all the contacts are shiny now. The crud was keeping the springs behind the arm contacts from applying any pressure too. I figure there was enough play due to the cracked housing, and the lack of spring pressure is what was setting off the code. Sometimes it was fine and others I couldn't clear the code at all.

A new NSS is in the near future and this is just a temporary fix to get me past the e-test without having to buy another temporary permit. Still makes no sense to me that a CEL for a transmission problem will cause an instant fail but it does.

*UPDATE*

No joy, the P0705 is still there, but no CEL at this time.

Drove back home from school for winter break. Also, I believe that my headlight switch is going bad. Headlights were flicking on and off randomly, just headlights, but thankfully it was just the last hour of the drive and I had my bright fogs on.
