Took it to the smog shop. Had a bad cat. Replaced the cat and took it back, passed the test. She gets to live another 2 years. Stupid cali smog rules. At this rate a vehicle is lucky to live as long as the manche has.

Today I replaced a joint in the 4x4 shifter to eliminate an annoying loose metal wobbling noise under the floor at an idle:

Burnt out my angle grinder just as I was almost finished working on a bad spot in the cargo floor I could have had all the floor rust spots fixed today if the grinder had lasted another 45 minutes.

Done for the day. Got my new parts in and the painted dash back in...what a pita. My speedo isn't working now. When I pulled the cluster the cable come out of the plastic stub in the firewall and fell out of the back of the cluster. I put it back in but its a no go.

Thanks. As much as I liked the burgundy color it was starting to fade. I'm gonna paint most of the trim black and put a rubber floor in it. Wasn't hard to paint. I cleaned the panels with brake cleaner then lightly scuffed them. Light primer then 3 top coats.

Upgraded front brakes with centric calipers and rotors with Hawk pads. Right front caliper had a torn boot. I could have just changed the one caliper I suppose. (but what fun would that be?) The stock front brakes left something to be desired when trying to hold the jeep stopped on a steep incline anyhow. Will have to wait for them to break in fully and see if they are any better than stock. So far after 50 miles they are noticeably better.

Changed my transmission filter--biggest pia and i'm pretty sure I won't ever do it again. It finally defeated me when new fluid leaked all over the driveway after i filled it. Taking off tomorrow to correct this.
