Took advantage of a cyber Monday special: $875 (free shipping) for an RD93 ARB locker for the C8.25 27-spline that's been sitting in the garage all summer. Which means I need to get some 29 - spline shafts to convert. Should I splurge for chromoly? Going with a Viair 450C and a tank for OBA & to power the locker. While I'm in there, I might as well upgrade to 4.10. Decided not to go with 4.56 so it could stay highway worthy & gas efficient. Plus, I'm not planning to go past 31" tires. All this means is that I am going to be spending craploads. But if I want selectable lockers, this had to have happened eventually.

Wouldn't bother with chromoly shafts on only 31" tires

Anyone have luck doing that?
It was a tiny hole in the tread area, got my buddy to fix it at his shop in return for me paying for hookah for him.

Believe me, it needs the re-gear. It doesn't have the umphf it should and the better gearing may actually improve city mileage. The locker is for 29-spline shafts. I have a complete 27-spline axle. Replacing the shafts matches it all up (the locker replaces the carrier), making it a 29-spline selectably-locked rear. Chromoly shafts would make it on par with a D44 strength-wise, but I probably don't need it. I'm not a big rock crawler.

29-spline 8.25s are on par with D44s in stock form lol

Greased the front suspension points, got rid out of squeaky door noises and got rid out of little rust in the base of front seats.

Except for C-clips so you still run the risk of a go go gadget extendo-axle

Chromoly shafts in a C-clip axle won't eliminate C-clips lol. However disk brakes certainly help reduce that issue.

Disc brake conversion will happen at some point. Unfortunately, if I am to be allowed to join in any of the reindeer games around here, I need a locker, so that has to come first. I want a selectable and I already have an upgrade axle from the D35 I have now. And if I'm going to swap axles and build up a rear end, I might as well re-gear so I don't have to keep downshifting to go up hills and have more umphf to pass people or even just merge onto the freeway.

They have them listed here, but I don't know the difference between 4340 chromoly and 4140 chromoly. There's other sites out there; this was just the first that popped up.

I bought a new deck today. Im looking for a decent set of speakers now, I was looking at some kicker 40cs I think? They're a 6.5" speaker so id have to do some trimming to get them to fit.

I had kicker DS525's (5.25") in my last jeep that I relocated to my kick panels. Id probably do the same thing in this one for when I go doorless (its inevitable) but I'm not sure what kind of space ill have to deal with. Ill take some dimensions later to see what I can do.
