If they are too weak to hold your hatch then they won't hold the hood well in winter

Regardless of what either weighs, if you were going through the effort to do that to your hood why would you even bother with the crappy stock ones. Upgrade, fools!

There is a strut change in 97 models. I used the longer ones from 96.

There is a psi rating for them, so we can find the rating of stock and purchase new with a lower rating. So as not be a Fool. I have not bothered. Mine is working Fool-Proof.

I went from a cherokee that barely holds the hatch up in the winter to one that actually goe up on it's own. When i bought it i opened the hatch and it hit me on the jaw i didn't expect it. Deal breaker

Was gonna get one that wrapped all the way around, and or a winch bumper, but a couple people i know have this one and they love it!

Those struts are made by so many, all with different psi ratings. Some of the aftermarket ones are too powerful or for a different application but the length is the same so they sell it to ya.
