I've only got one strap on those hooks. Making some steel straps to bolt it down with now, just ran out of gas in the welder though.
And I'm going to make something to cover it out of sheetmetal.
I don't think its unsafe really. I'd rather have it mounted there than underneath where I'll knock a hole in it again first time I go wheeling.

It's also a Comanche gas tank, so it wouldn't fit like Jimmy's did.
Yeah, it won't fit exactly like his did, but I am going to mount it similarly to his. Just ran out of time to finish it exactly like I want to, needed to be able to drive the Jeep.

You really think I'll need steel plate over it? I mean, I don't think it would ever explode or anything. In the factory location there's only sheetmetal between the top of the tank and the inside of the Jeep, which is why I thought sheetmetal would be fine, braced up with some DOM.

If it were to detonate in the vehicle, the back hatch would be functioning like the floor in the first example, and the majority of the blast would go to the front of the vehicle where the open space is.
Granted, it isn't a pretty scenario either way, but there's a reason gas tanks are generally on the outside. Besides all that, you also have fumes to contend with.

Got some stuff done on barney
Flushed brakes
New coil islators
New double shear upgrade
New 8.25 rear
Manuel seats
H4 headlights
New tps
Oil change
Hood vents
Zj fan clutch and a fan shroud
Still working in the cowl intake
still have death wobble, I've neglected to check my ball joints so I'm gunna do that.

In the factory location, the gas tank is only separated from the interior by sheet metal. This is true. However, if the gas tank detonates under the Jeep, the majority of the force will go outwards because there is no resistance.
