I put new fuel pump, fuel filter, & fuel sender with new tank straps in 98 XJ today. Tryin to give her a little TLC next is alternator, starter & battery (Optima). I got a list a mile long maintence was seldom for my Jeep. When I bought it the hood latches had rusted/seized pulled so hard on release pulled it right out broken. Oiled latches got'em workin & drivers side let loose crossin Bay Bridge (MD.) bought 3 months later got hood pins now.

Dropped in a new motor, bolted it up to trans, got new radiator in, starter back on, new plugs in, bolted on accessories, got exhaust bolted on, found crack on intake manifold....dang it! So close!!
HAhhaa, welcome to my world. My rear brakes are FUBAR...and my driver's side axel bearing is shot...so i'm going to buy another rear D35 and part the current one so I have a spare yoke and axel shafts.
Oh well gives me the excuse to go ahead and rebuild them. All new parts goin on, maybe I'll have marginal braking power after this. Already put in new master cyl and booster, front brakes are decent.
Be a shame to cook a valve in that new motor Bro !!
But like you said, DANG !....It never ends does it ?

Wouldn't start so I charged up the battery and had it tested, all good. Cranking hard but still won't turn over.
Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Use a wrench over the hex portion of the shaft on the torx (sp?) socket? At least my set has a short portion. It would free up all the space that was taken up by the ratchet.
