Took my XJ on it's first real off-road trip...I would post the video but there is a lot of cursing and I'm not sure the forum moderators would be too happy, also...my brother sucks at holding a camera still

As far as the darkness goes, and I'm not sure about forum rules and if I break them by saying this, I will gladly remove it.
BUT, I have the same law here in my state and when I asked about this law today, the told me I really dont have much to worry about.
Because:
1.) this isn't a attention grabbing vehicle like a dubbed out Cutlass or Impala.
2.) you can't be written a ticket for tint without having a traffic violation first. In other words they can't pull you over for it alone.
3.) it's not a 10% mirrored tint of which they really do not like.
4.) if I do get pulled over, give the officer the courtesy of rolling down all of the windows so that he does not feel threatened when approaching your vehicle.
I do #4 anyway just out of respect for them. I was pulled over in my wife's Civic which I had limo tint (7%) put on and I rolled all of my windows completely down before he even got out of his car. He approached, looked in and didn't say anything about them.
I almost had the front windshield tinted with the same heat reflective tint but in 75% tint, it was an extra $175 for that so I opted for just the strip on the windshield. You could probably get away with the windshield tint with no worries because it is almost like nothing is on it, but still works because of the metal in it.
I highly recommend the heat reflecting tint, no matter the shade percentage you choose. It actually really does work.

^^^yeah, as long as you're not being a d-bag or doing something stupid, most officers don't really bother with petty stuff like window tint.
If you're being a nuisance to others or them, TAG, you're it!

Well compared to a few others my issue is small potatoes. None the less heading to las cruces this morning and between Wilcox ax and deming nm the water pump pulley decided to come apart at 80. Chewed up the belt and seized the water pump. Put a damper on that trip.

Made $40 pulling out a stuck 4door suburban a wrongler and a F-350! Of course the wrongler didn't offer to pay. The guy on the ford didn't know he had locking front hubs and the suburban shouldn't had been on the beach in the first place.

Some pics of the fan carnage from the other day:

The quick fix (thank God for rescuetape):

Took the DS door off to get the hinge welded back on...

At the welders - Thanks OFAB!:

I was sad when I got home and had to put the door back on... definitely going doorless once we're all done with moving and I start my "paternity" leave from work.

Cleaned my IAC and throttle body. Removed my damaged transfercase linkage. Tightened high pressure side of my power steering pump and refilled my reservoir. Purchased and replaced my tps. Well almost. I have a 96-1/2 XJ, so the 96 tps didn't fit. I'll have to Exchange for a 97 on Monday. Pretty productive day.
