Ic. I have cragars sim beeds on my truck too and after the first full winter the paint starting randomly pealing off around the sim beeds which lead to rust. The paint also flakes off on the inside of the beed ring. Maybe it was just on the cragars but just make sure you lookout for that.
you could check out my buddies place, he manufacturers DIY bead locks.
pretty cool IMO.
EDIT- his web page is www.KORE4x4Customs.com

What do beadlocks do, and why are they illegal? I thought they were that rim around the edge that protects the inside edge of the tire? Why would that be illegal?
Back on topic... I drove it to work and home.
And on Tuesday, I managed to avoid 2 accidents within 5 minutes of each other. First I was turning left out of my condo complex, and the guy coming from the other side of the intersection also had his left turn signal on, so I go to turn left, and he goes straight, almost going head on into me, he never turned his turn signal off. I glared at the guy as he drove past, he was oblivious, and talking on his cell phone (which is illegal while driving in the state of California).
5 minutes after this, I stopped at stop sign. There were no other cars at the interesection so I went to go across. It's a blind intersection, so I didn't see the car that blew the stop sign until it was almost too late, I slammed on my brakes and missed him by maybe a foot or two. At this point I was feeling pretty pissed off. I felt like I had a target painted on my Jeep or something. I was very relieved to get home and put it in the garage.
