Played in the mud a little today to make sure the front axle was pulling. Had to rig the vac disco with washers last night until I can transplant a later model axle.

I bought a shop vac and vacuumed the entire interior, looks clean! But I haven't washed the outside for probably 2 months, it keeps raining which makes it pointless.

Just got back from a 500+ mile highway trip. It was the first time I'd tried it in my 96 and I was happily surprised. I bought this rig a couple weeks ago with the expectation that it was completely neglected for the vast majority if its life. Since owning it I have changed every fluid except brakes (which will come when I get new pads and rotors/shoes and drums but I have to get my upgraded rear axle first).

We took the trip to get a VW bus IRS for my buddy's baja bug build. We also got a bunch of parts for his Bronco II, but no new toys for my XJ...although I did find a D44 rear axle that I can get for $125. Too bad it is 250 miles away.

Other than that, I got some Ozium to help with PO smoking smells. I only smell the funk when the weather is nice and the car is shut up. This is significant progress from when I first got it, but I'd like to get the smell as gone as possible. We shall see.

Here is what I did over the past few days... mounted my fire extinguisher, fixed my drivers side door "latch was messed up". Cleaned the whole thing inside and out since it hadn't been cleaned in months. Got some new D rings for the front bumper, mounted and wired my Hella lights. Put in my new fishing rod rack and installed a set of Howlers door thresholds! Then I took her out today and got her all muddy again Next for this week is an oil change, front brake pads and to figure out what the loud creaking noise is from my left front. Here are some pics before I got her all muddy.

Yeah it works great. I left my pole in there today when I went wheelin just to see if it would bounce around at all or come loose but it didn't move. The best part is the price... $9.99 Its made by Berkley and its called the twist lock rod rack. I got it at an outdoors store in Grand Junction Colorado but I think you can pretty much get it anywhere they sell fishing gear or Berkley products. Or of corse online

I scored a set of 5 Grizzly rims for my rig, complete with tires.
I have been wanting some for a LONG time, and the right deal finally came my way.

You're not gonna get a lump sum, man. It's coming in the form of less taxes out of your paycheck from what I've heard...
