I'm just hoping it doesn't make it too stiff, therefore causing more cracking. We'll see.....

Yeah didnt think of that, seems like if you did that then supported the exhaust well enough it should work pretty good

Had a friend and a friend's friend working on the starter issue. We picked up the fully charged battery. Could only try to start it once, then no juice. The guy could rarely get a spark from the starter so it seems the current is going down there properly. Used another car and connected the battery and it started right away. Getting new battery connectors tomorrow.

at long last finally started taking her apart to make the head gasket replacement. didnt get far, only had about 2 hours of light to work with...and 20 minutes of that was spent arguing with my netbook over why it wouldnt play music for me.

got lucky so far, PB blaster has done wonderfully in allowing me to not break any bolts. Let's hope and pray it keeps up this way. I'm almost down to the intake/exhaust manifolds, got a few more things to unbolt in the morning. I knew this was going to be a lot of work...but I couldn't have even guessed just how much. Hey, at least i'm learning what goes where, so when more repairs come up down the road i'm ready with the knowledge of how to do them ^_^
