Sometimes I go to start the Cherokee and it will run rough until I go into gear and start driving. Well, about a mile after this happened tonight a yellow light came on (to the right of the push button for tripometer). Is this the CEL or the oil light? No owners manual.

turn the key 3/4s of the way and see what lights up. that should give u what ur lookin for i would think.. good luck! glad to see another MA member

 

Sorry no pic of the light on. But if you look at the tripometer button its immediately to the right of it.

Found a 2004 Grand Cherokee manual. Its the same light I see called "malfunction indicator light".

 

Check Gauges/CEL

 

This one is where the Check Gauges would be on yours, but same color as the CHECK ENGINE on yours.

Crap just what I was afraid of..

 

 

i mean its a picture of an engine...... lol

but just take it up tp your local auto mart and get them to run your codes. could be something very minor, mine came on once when i didnt tighten my gas cap down all the way.
