what can you get on a Limited?

Word on the street is the D44 was available 87-90 possibly with tow package but you'll never find one except for 87. I got the build sheet for my 89 and it has tow package listed but had a D35 with a limited slip. In the last 6 months we've found 3 D44s and all in 87s.
My understanding is even though some part might have been spec'ed if they didn't have the part the production line wasn't stopping. They put whatever they could put to keep building.

Think tow package, it's going to have the stronger axle.
Right. Chrysler 8.25 Jeeps don't have ABS.
Yes. That's the only way you can get a Chrysler 8.25 from the factory.
Yes. Not sure on the years, but I've seen later model Cherokees with them, so probably 97-01.

My perfect choice would be a bone stock 89.5 with Ax-15 2 door manual windows base model. To me that would be the perfect build Cherokee.
