So... I have a 91 chevy stepside 2wd that I recently taged a tree. so it is now totaled. Is there any parts that I can steal off of it before I send it to a junkyard?

Leafs,shocks, springs?

The front coils may be worth keeping, though if you used them on the XJ they may be pretty stiff.

Rear leaf springs would probably be too long.

There is not really a whole lot that would work without some modifications.

With enough mods, you could put the engine, trans and rear axle in your XJ.

If its an auto tranny, 700r4 or 4l60e, worth about 250 bucks round here.

Tranny was the 700r4 but it is gone along with the engine. The rear shocks are brand new on the chevy but I think they are way too long. Chevy mounts their shocks alot more horisontal to the axle so they are longer.

the benifit would be having an axle that wouldnt blow up! but it would need to be narrowed unless you want to swap out the front as well. and if you have ever seen a full width jeep, they are wide. my yj is full width f250 axles and with 35x14.50 tires on it it wont fit into a parking space. does the axle have a limited slip or posi? it may be worth a few bucks to someone.

ECU, TCU, TB, TPS, IAT, MAP, ECU Harness. These are all easy to nab with the exception of the harness. That takes a little more effort. Harness and ECU itself could be sold for $150 a piece easily if there's no damage.

You are getting raped by your junk yard.

Call the metal recycling places that take cars and find out what they are paying a ton.

Scrap is generally 100 + a ton the last few years.

pull the cat and rad, scrap them seperatly.

Part it out on craigslist, you'd be surprised how much money you can make 5 bucks at a time.

Is it 5 lug or 6 lug? If its 5 lug its just a 10 bolt, really not worth swapping. I've broken quite a few. But you could still sell it. A few work truck 2wd were 6 lug which would be a semi float 9.5" 14 bolt which is pretty rare and desirable for swaps on half ton Chevys.

$50 to pick it up?! I'd tell them where to put that $50. You don't know anyone with a trailer? That's like $300 if you scrap it.
Edit: blacksmith beat me to it. What he said.
