Default What is the best Cherokee to start with for a Project

Im in the process of looking for a cherokee to use for my project for a daily driver/weekend warrior. I currently looking at a 1996 Grand Cherokee. Any suggestions , please let me know!

Id start with a Cherokee sport or maybe a limited. Don't think I'd start with a GC for my project. Personally think Cherokees
Look better and you can make it more yours...

91-95 XJ sport 4.0 auto. If you can find a Country they are the same thing but came 1" taller than any other options. Wouldn't go with a limited. All those options can suck to replace.

honestly you can do everything with a ZJ that you can with an XJ

id say the only real downsides is a lack of 5 speed manuals available and the LP D30

But most ZJ's have all those bells and whisles that when your getting started wheeling and building really just get in the way. For me anyway.

id agree if he was building a wheeling rig but he said it would be a DD as well.

Well if you look really far in the future although I am an XJ nut ZJ and WJ's look better when dove nosed and dove tailed. But that typically is no longer a dd.

And extra weight... and chrysler transmissions... even worse gas mileage than the xj, especially if you have the AWD transfer case that has no 2-hi
