To get a snap ring for my NP231 xfer case.
The last snap ring was missing when I took it apart and I left it out mostly because I didn't know at the time it needed one there.
So its been a few months and I was in town so I visited a few shops to no avail so I had to visit the dealer.
I think its going to be made out of solid gold though. $3.07 for a snap ring. Ounce per ounce I think thats more expensive than buying gold.

Since I was there I thought I'd get a Build Sheet.
Turns out the Chrysler DB isn't to good for the AMC Jeep years.
It doesn't list Diff Ratios, or tranny type, or even the NP231.
But on the plus side it did list a tow package, but then it listed Air Bags, I laughed and told the parts guy he was nucking futz. He got a puzzled look and said why. I told him No airbags ever on 87 or 88.

So if you have an early XJ and want a build sheet its not as useful as the newer XJ models to have.
