well i have been wanting a cherokee for quite a wile now. pretty much after my son got his and i got to messing with his xj a few years ago. time was finally right and i bought this 2000 2 door sport. has 200k on it but it is a tight vehicle. bought it from the original owner.


plans for it..

for now i think i'll just put a new set of tires on it and enjoy it. just not sure what i want to put on it at this time. thinking bfg all terrains but not sure what would be best. i want something that is good for a 5 hour street drive and some off road use in the jersey pines.

down the road as money allows i think i'll put 3.5" lift on it and a set of 31's. thats plenty for us and our intended usage. i just have to figure out what lift to use. i was looking at the rubicon express kit but wonder if its worth the money over some of the cheaper systems. i have no issues with spending the extra money as long as its worth the extra money.

I'd suggest adding some frame stiffeners if you plan on wheeling it, the 2-doors are prone to cracking the B-Pillar.

 

Usually spending a little more money for something better is worth it. Rubicon express vs rough country: 9.875 out of 10 people will choose Rubicon express. When it comes to modifying your vehicle, especially with things such as a lift, safety is a priority (or at least should be).
It's still early for me, so I'm out of things to say lol

I have BFG AT and they drive nice, but when it's time- will replace with cooper discovery.

Like you- I like to keep them stock and maybe a little lift someday, just because We like to drive fast down the desert trails out here.

thanks man.. i'll look into the stiffners. not ever going to wheel it hard.. take the family out for a jersey pine trail ride is about it.

 

no doubt safety is #1. just wasn't sure id the quality difference was what the difference is.

I had the Big O Tire version of those Coppers, they worked way better than I expected from them. They lasted a long time too.

Got a set on my wife's tj. Wear nicely, not a lot of road noise, and great in the snow.

 

Look at the Rustys Off Road 3" full leaf/coil lift kit, one of the very few American made springs offered in kits of all prices most made in China. They ride better and the leafs are the proper length with stock shackles plus he offers 2 different coil weights one for a winch/bumper and one for the better ride and proper lift, about $430.

 

Nice looking jeep. 3.5" of lift and 31's is a pretty popular set up. Once you start modifying though you won't stop at 3.5". It's a sickness.

 

you can't go wrong with rubicon express. they come as complete kit, hence the extra cash, but you also get lifetime warranty.

 

thanks.. everyone i talk to say that rubicon is a quality kit which is why i'm leaning in that direction.. whatever kit i decide the jeep is going to have to be able to make a 6 hour trip a few times a year. so i want it to ride and handle nicely on the street along with improving in the trails...
