There is a weld shop near me, they charge $90ish for a big spool, not sure of the length, never looked I just throw it in and get to burnin. Its not cheap, thats why not everyone has one and people charge a good penny for welding.

Are you sure you looked hard enough at Home Depot?

I know Lowes also sells the same stuff, for pretty much the same price.

Wait till you see how much a bottle of argon is going to cost you unless you plan on doing everything with flux core. Before you buy a spool see what size your welder takes. Mine takes 10" and you won't find them at the box stores. I also have several wire sizes I keep around for different thicknesses. Even have a spool gun for aluminum but last time I welded it I took my project to the recycle plant.

Gotta be said... Not Fab, please read the "Read before Posting" Threads. I am just putting this here for the OP. Lots of problems with this of late, and needs corrected.

I just found out I can buy a conversion kit for my little 110V flux welder so I can run wire + gas rather than flux. I'm pretty excited. I learned on a nice 220 Lincoln gassed wire-feed mig, so I'm hoping with gas my 110 will produce some nice welds rather than the dirty flux mess it makes now.
Can you guys give me an idea how much a bottle is going to cost, and do I purchase the bottle then buy refills, or do you rent the bottle and return for exchange when empty (like propane for the grill)?

believe it or not, some of these cheap welders can do a very nice job, even with flux core, but man can they also try your patience & ability.
I do all my around the home welding with a campbell housefeld 110 volt mig, running only flux core. I have patched quite a few floors, welded in 1 quarter panel, & also had door hinge ripped out & rebuilt & make it look like new, plus misc fab jobs.
the china welders will test your ability, to put it mildly, I had a nice Miller 140, but I gave it to a life long friend that helped me out of a bad siituation. I plan to replace it when money is better, but the mig I use does good, & I am used to it, & I keep saying I am going to buy a tank of 75/25 gas, & see how much it improves.
1 thing you will hate will be the short duty cycle, weld like 2 minutes, & let cool for 8, & in 100 +degree heat, I have seen mine pop the overheat in under 2 minutes. when I have a little project, I use a timer. yes agravating. but protects the welder from being overheated.
I recently built a porch, & I am going to weld up metal poles like older houses have with designs in them, & then build an overhang to cover the porch, & yep, the cheap welder will be used.

Were you talking about the welding wire or the wire to power the thing?
I'm guessing power wire as they measure welding wire by the pound, not by the foot...?

This is the welder I got. Told mom to get the 110 Volt, she got the 110 amp, 220v. Figure its not bad since I can get some nice strong bumpers made up with it.

for my 220 welder, I unplug my stove. & run a cord outside, I have made 3, from srap cords I picked up at flea market, all from 8 gauge to 10 gauge, before that, I actually used household wire, like to wire a house, in a 50 foot section, not recomended, but it gets you going, & you can scrounge Lowes for the scrap, & maybe pick up a deal. my wire for my stove was picked up over 1/2 off. as originally when I bought my house, the stove was in my den & I relocated it the kitchen, about 20 feet farther away.

I have a Millermatic 135. Runs on 110v and can weld up to 3/16" thick plus optional spool gun for aluminum and can use gas. Found it at a pawn shop and paid $400 its almost brand new
