Wanting to build an XJ for DD only use.
I'm looking at possibly buying a newer model XJ (97+) and building it as a reliable daily driver and also for hauling kayaks to camp sites. Sounds easy enough, but I need about 15+ MPG and I also would like at least 33 inch all terrains. Is this possible?
1997+ Cherokee
4x4
Low miles
Straight body/Paint
33 inch ATs
4.5" RE
JCR front bumper
SYE/DS/blah blah blah.
Also, if I'm building a road only Cherokee, would a CAI and TBS be effective?

you dont need a SYE for road use only or AT's might be best with going with a 33" street tire, more for your money. Why change the bumper if your not going to use it?

I think with 33's youd need to regear to keep the mileage up and the engine turning more and not lugging. Mine with 3.55's and 33x12.50's averaged about 10 and OD was out except on level ground..
32x10.50s would net better mileage with the stock gearing.

The reason the JCR bumper is going on because I already have it and I'm not gonna let it sit in my garage. And also, I have no problem with re-gearing. I just would like a mean looking XJ that is capable of about anything I want it to go through (recovering my friends' F150s, Broncos, etc. ) and also for camping/hauling kayaks.
Will I really not need an SYE for the RE 3.5, because from what I've read it nets about 5" total.
