Default Want to start my cage..want some advice

Alright so I want to rip off the roof, doors, hatch, and just about everything except the hood with a removable sun screen.
I researched a bit and couldn't pin point my exact questions.
My questions are: what size tubing should I use to compliment the unibody and don't cause it too much stress? 1.5 with a 120 wall?
I am doing all the fab work myself so I want to make it as easy as possible on my self.
Next question: should I tie into the unibody through the floor into the frame or should I wrap it around and tie into the sides.
I know that this isn't something that happens over night so I am doing my homework now.

I want to be able to drive this and wheel it and roll it and still be safe.
I want to do something pretty similar to the picture below.

And help/advice/pictures/drawings would be appreciated.

I also want to keep my windshield if possible, or do some sort of wind screen so I can drive it when I need to.

1.75x.120 wall DOM is prety much the standard. thats what i used. IMHO, you should tie into the unibody AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE using plates and through bolts. my cage is tied into my 1/4" rocker replacement rock rails, which welded to the jeep and then tied into the framerails... and the framerails are all plated. every where i have tubing running through the floor, there are plates welded to the tube on either side and bolts running through the floor. on the roof, i plan on tying into the stock sheet metal with some 1/8" plate eventually. i'm no where near being done at the moment.

Yeah I wouldn't tie into the sheet metal at all..I just didn't know if tying into the frame through the sheet metal would be better or going around the rockers into the frame would be better.
But I like the idea of integrating sliders into the cage.

How many hours do you have in your frame so far?

I was also reading that people plate the sheet metal and tie into that. What are the opinions on that?

I would. my cage will be tied into the body/sheet metal/roof/pillars as much as possible. and into the frame. read the link I posted it shows many ways of tying cages into the frame. go straight through the floor and tie it into your frame (that has hopefully been well plated)
