im thinking about buying one but are the v6's any good in the older xj's? i think its an 86? also its got a 5 speed tranny. can the engine be changed over to the 4.0 easily? anything bad about this engine tranny setup? or anything to look out for? i used to own a zj till the auto tranny blew. thanks.

 

never had any personal experience, but someone had posted about this a while back saying that it was not as easy as swapping the motor. i think they had mentioned something about a difference in firewalls.

 

If you have the 2.8 your much better off doing a camaro 3.4 V6 swap..More power and its got Fuel Injection. Its alot easier then doing a 4.0 swap.

I would just wait and get a 4.0

 

The V6 is the same pos 2.8 that came in Chevy Blazers etc. The 4.0 swap in those years is pretty in depth. If you really want a 4.0, I would try and find a little newer Jeep.
