Default Using reverse lights for trailer hook up.

Is there any way to wire up a switch to my reverse lights so I can turn them on when hooking up a trailer or whatever else?

I just need to locate the wire that goes to those lights I guess, I'm hoping I can tap a switch into the wire and it will be as simple as that?

My NSS is shot so my reverse lights don't come on anyway but I'm thinking a switch will bypass that.........hopefully.

Olympus offroad has rock lights for cheap that you could install to face to the back.
Just an idea.

Already looked at those, I'm wondering if those dinky little things are bright enough, if so I'd use them.

I would say there going to be, maybe not as a replacement for reverse lights, but for hooking up a trailer i think they would do great.
Don't know if you would want to but could you install inside the hatch, pointing down when hatch is open with a switch nearby?
Could come in handy when looking for things in the back.

The website says sold out. Do you have to use a relay with these? Are they made in China?

You need no relay, just give them power! And I believe our rock lights are us made!

Thanks Wiggles, I'll try them, I'll post pics when I'm done.

Does anyone know if there's a pre-drilled hole in the rear floor of an XJ to run trailer light wires or I need to drill my self?
