Up coming XJ build...poll
I am thinking about starting a new build and would like to try something different than just a lift, tires, add on's etc... I found a random 4 door Cherokee picture and drew up a few idea's, I suppose the same thing could be done with a 2 door. Im not sure how some of these would work with the window's, I guess they would have to be custom made if I was to go that route. I have always liked the Jeep trucks but they are not easy to find and when you do they are not always in the best of shape. I am also a bigger fan of the 2 door Xj's which is what I have now. The 2nd and 5th picture I thought could be done like a soft top on a CJ or Wrangler with a roll bar underneath. Also, if I was to do the truck version I would close the entire cab in and finish the back like a normal truck. Opinion's on some of these would be great, or any other ideas anyone has.

I'd say option 6, with either a canvas truck style bed cap or a roll cage like the show "Trucks" installed on there International Scout II. The roll cage from "Trucks" International Scout II is what I want to do when my XJ is not my DD.

i really hope no one will ever do a number 4 to an xj.
honestly that would never look good.
i say go with 5 or 6, though that looks mighty hard. you'd have to get rid of the back doors and put in that whole side panel.
probably easier just to get a 2 door in good condition and swap things over if you really want.
four door chops up to the rear passenger windows are useless imo. you actually lose cargo space/holding capacity.
edit: i just actually read your post, and considering you do own a 2 door and not a 4 door, definitely do the 5 or 6. they look really good with the roll bars too.
check out richxj89's job. i think this is great.

I'd go with 5, but make the top removable. With like buttons or snaps. I would leave the bench seat in too. Like the old broncos. It would be sweet if you tore the floor to bare metal and rhino lined the whole floor.
