U joint.

Ey my u joints are bad and I'm wondering how do I replace then. What I dont know how to do is get them away from the drive shaft. Or do I have to take off the whole shaft

It is extremely hard to do on the vehicle. Remove the driveshaft so you have more control over surroundings.
You can probably find some youtube clips on how to change them. But, it would also not cost a lot to have a shop do it.
There are clips on either the inside or outside of the UJoint caps that hold it on the drive shaft. Once these are removed, each cap can be worked out. They should be fairly tight in there, so it is not a simple slide-it-out procedure. Thats what she said.
