Trying to clean windows . . .
I have what I would describe as a milky residue on the side windows on older vehicles (2000 & 2001) that does not come off. You can still see through it OK but very annoying. It also has vertical streaks from rolling up & down over the years.
What will get rid of it? And how to get rid of it? PLEASE!!

I wash them like I normally would with glass cleaner that has ammonia in it. Then dry them with an air nozzle then use very fine steel wool dry on the surface. If you do it dry then its super easy to see spots you missed.
This also can get off mild acid rain/bird crap "etching". Can. Not does lol
You can use wet steel wool as said above that works too i just prefer it dry

Yes, 0000 steel wool and some soapy water in a spray bottle, make sure there is plenty of lubricity.
But you might be able to remove them with some polish like Meguiars Ultimate Polish/M205 (or compound + polish combo), which is more ideal. But the 0000 steel wool is the old school method and has been used for decades. I would use a claybar before any of these, as it will get rid of anything bonded to the glass like paint overspray, iron and such

Could also use vinegar to remove the water stains. Best to soak newspaper or paper towel with vinegar then stick the paper on the glass and let it sit fir a while. Do it before washing and if any gets on the paint it will remove wax. Some will even spray the paper more to keep it wet for longer. Also a product like soft scrub might work.
