That's because its a retreaded tire. Tread Wright(Hi-Tech) buys the tire carcasses in bulk and puts the tread caps on them. You didn't(when I was looking at buying them) have control over what carcasses you got. So you could have gotten 3 BFG and 1 Firestone carcass, etc, etc.

Maybe that was the case then, now they dont send out mis matched sets. I talked to them about that specifically. Also, if you have a preference in which carcass is used for your tires, you can specify.

I may go with these for my next set of tires. They have a new design out that looks like the MT/R tire, pretty sweet.

I'm not worried about them separating despite people saying they do. I've seen more major brand tire defect threads than retreads, and i don't recall reading any about them separating.

let us know how they perform.

That looks like an extra piece of rubber. New tires have that on the tread blocks too. Probably would peel right off.

I didn't even know they recapped passenger "truck" tires. I'm going to need new tires soon, and will be all over that like a hobo on a ham sandwich...

Never have, but from time to time there will be state auto laws brought to light. And a few years back there was alot at talk about the state not wanting retreads on the front a vehicles. They were seeing aot of probs with teh recap part coming off in corners..

does this company have any guarantee against tire separation. I would love to get some new tires on my jeep.

Yeah they do. I spoke with them about 2 years ago and they said they will replace any defective tire (they have yet to hear a complaint, at that time) as long as it was not abused or air pressure was not run too low. They said once you take the tires off road, the warranty is void. that kinda blows. I wonder if that still stands now or if it changed.

That's what i was thinking. I guess you can tell sometimes by looking for major scrapes and abuse on the tire. You can actually tell if a lifted vehicle has been abused or not by looking at the tread blocks and sidewalls sometimes. I can tell apart my never-wheeled trxus tires i have now to the often abused trxus tires i had on my tj. Chunks missing, scratched and torn up tread blocks, sidewall scratches, etc.

I used a set for about a year and I never had problems. I even drove pretty far on them and no separation. When I drove a semi, the retreads held up great then too. The problem with those is that not many companies take care of there trailers. They just drive them till they go.

The one instance I found where someone had a tread separate, they replaced all 4 of them at no cost to him. That was one of the major things that swayed me in my decision.

Tires are mounted and balanced and ready for pick-up after work!

re-treading a tire is pretty much the same steps are putting the original tread on... works good enough for airline landing gear......
