I have 88 xj with a renix 4.0 and a peugot 5 speed in it. I recently blew the transmission up and im looking for another 5 speed. What would i have to do to switch a ax15 into it? I understand that my TC is a 21 spline and the ones for the ax15 are 23. What transmissions will work with my transfercase and what transfercases will work with the ax15?

 

your best bet would be to find an AX15 with transfer case still attached this way there is no guess. Or I think that the 4 cylinder XJ and YJs with the AX5 have 21 spline input shafts on the case but don't quote me on that.

 

Yeah i would just get a trans t case combo this way you know it works together.
